The Boston Spine Group is an outcome driven team determined to use proven knowledge in their decision-making. Part of this knowledge is gained in our experience with research studies and clinical investigations.

What are Outcomes?

Outcomes help doctors understand the end result of the treatment they have provided for you. The way The Boston Spine Group determines outcomes is through a series of questions.

One common measure of outcomes for people with spinal disorders is the Oswestry Disability Index. You will be asked to fill out this questionnaire to assess how much your daily function is restricted by pain. Other questionnaires help us get a complete understanding of how you are feeling at the time you are answering the questions.

In order to evaluate how well you are doing, it is important that the doctors know how you are feeling before your treatment and at specific intervals after your treatment. This way, the doctors will better understand how you are progressing. This means you will be asked some of the same questions every time you come in to see the doctor.

The information that you give The Boston Spine Group during your visit is extremely valuable to you and to others that will seek treatment for spinal disorders in the future. We appreciate your contribution.

Why are Outcomes Important?

  • Improve quality of life
  • Find new treatments
  • Determine which treatment is best for the individual
  • Create a patient-centered practice
  • Understand patient outcomes

The Boston Spine Group prides itself on its driven research initiatives-with both in-house studies and FDA regulated investigations. With the support of the New England Baptist Hospital and a full-time research staff, we are able to take advantage of new procedures and devices.

For all studies conducted at The Boston Spine Group there are strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. Please do not hesitate to call any member of the Research staff if you have a question.
