Non-Operative Back Pain
Medtronic DIAM Conservative Care:
The physicians of The Boston Spine Group are enrolling candidates for the clinical trial study, DIAM™ Spinal Stabilization System. This randomized clinical trial is looking for patients with symptoms of degenerative spinal stenosis at a single level to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the DIAM™.
Patients who enroll will be randomly assigned to one of two treatment groups. The investigational treatment consists of the surgical placement the DIAM™ Spinal Stabilization System device in the spinal column. The control treatment group will receive non-operative treatment. This clinical trial will study the effectiveness and safety of the device for the treatment of degenerative disc disease at a single level.
A partial list of the inclusion criteria includes:
- Have degenerative disc disease at a single lumbar level between L2-L5.
- Be between 18-70 years of age
- Undergo at least 6 weeks of non-operative treatment prior to enrolling in the study
- Not be pregnant or planning a pregnancy during the study
- Be willing and able to participate in either of the randomized treatments for the duration of the study follow up period.
